Mounting headlight on V-Rex f-der post

I've wanted to mount the headlights on my V-Rex on the front derailler hanger post, but couldn't find a good way to do so, so I designed my own.

This is how it looks all set up.

First, I decided that a Minoura Space Grip would probably work well as the mounting point, but the derailler post was too big around for the bracket to mount. It was also too wide to fit between the cranks.

I decided to make my own mounting hardware. I went to the hardware store and purchased a 1" diameter rubber plug (it tapers down a little bit at one end), a t-nut (look in the furniture area, they're used to put threads for feet at the bottom of table/chair legs), a 1/2" PVC pipe plug, a washer, and a allen head bolt.

UPDATE: The rubber plug finally rotted out and wasn't all that useful after a few years. I found that by replacing the rubber plug with TWO plugs (and a longer bolt) make the whole setup SIGNIFICANTLY more stable. The headlight used to move around a bit, but now it's rock solid!

I drilled a hole down the center of the PVC plug and the rubber plug, put a washer over the bolt, threaded the bolt through the PVC plug, then through the rubber plug, then put the t-nut at the very end. The threaded portion of the t-nut pulled into the hole drilled in the rubber plug, and the sharp pointed teeth dug into the rubber plug so that when I tighten the bolt to expand the rubber the t-nut will not turn.

Once I had assembled these peices I wrapped some old inner tube around the PVC plug and mounted the space grip.

Now that this was assembled, I used a tubing cutter to cut 1/2 inch off each end of the space grip.
